Multiplication and times tables games

Knowing times tables by heart makes division, fractions and long multiplication far easier. These games build that fluency the way it works best: short daily bursts, starting with the easiest tables (2s, 5s and 10s) and adding harder ones as your child succeeds.

Each round takes a few minutes, and the difficulty adapts — so kids spend their time on the facts they don’t know yet.

2 games that practise multiplication

What your child practises

  • The 2, 5 and 10 times tables
  • All tables up to 10 × 10, then 12 × 12
  • Related division facts
  • Multiplication in word problems

When do children learn this?

Usually grade 2–4 in the US and Canada (Year 2–4 in the UK and Australia); UK children are checked on tables up to 12 × 12 in Year 4.

How to help at home

  • Go in this order: 2s, 10s, 5s, then 3s, 4s and 8s, then 6s, 7s, 9s, 11s and 12s.
  • Point out the “turnarounds”: 3 × 7 is the same as 7 × 3, so there are fewer facts to learn than it seems.
  • Five minutes a day beats an hour on Sunday. Read our times tables guide.
